Community Building and Neighborhood Revitalization
Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation’s Community Building and Neighborhood Revitalization (CBNR) team focuses on engaging people in the neighborhoods where they live. Since the beginning, CEDC has worked to empower individuals, families and neighborhoods in shaping the physical, social and economic fabric of their communities. We accomplish this by creating leadership development opportunities, opening doors to social and educational family resources, and facilitating neighborhood revitalization efforts. From skills training and partnership formation to resident boards and neighborhood advocacy, we support residents and community members as they shape their future and address self-identified needs and issues.
In collaboration with other divisions, the CBNR Division builds on CEDC’s long-standing philosophy of asset-based community development. We define this as empowering and engaging individuals, families and neighborhoods in shaping the physical, social and economic fabric of their communities through identifying and utilizing their existing strengths.
We work to cultivate and maintain long-standing relationships with individuals and families who live in and around our developments. In doing so, we provide opportunities for people to take on short- and long-term leadership roles that help shape the environment in which they live. By instilling a collective, widespread sense of community pride and spirit, the Community Engagement Division creates more dynamic, enriching and rewarding neighborhoods in which to live, learn and grow.
